We had an interclub competition between the Camperdown and Preston Northcote members. Camperdown offered 6 anglers and PNAC with 13 anglers, including three of our junior members, battling it out for the heaviest fish. The weekend saw winds and choppy waves on Lake Bullen Merri making the boat fishermen difficult to find the fish. In the end it was the bank that saw profits of good trout caught over the weekend. Congratulations to our Preston Northcote Angler, George Kapouleas, taking the inaugural intra club prize, winning the heaviest trout, a tiger trout weighing in at 2.370 kgs. Many good sized fish were weighed in and the heaviest bag of trout, by Daniel Trafford, our ‘young gun angler’ weighed in a massive 4.860 kgs, only getting over the line by just 10 gms, topping Steven Gusman with a bag weighing 4.850 kgs! An inspiring catch by junior Katie Harris with a lovely rainbow trout, at 0.650 kgs with all other anglers bringing home a fish or two.
A BBQ dinner with the Camperdown crew topped off a terrific event between the two clubs. The sun shone in parts and aided the wind whilst we fished the banks on Sunday morning.
Such good club spirit amongst all that attended the weekend, making terrific memories for the years to come. The next Camperdown trip over Australia Day weekend in 2024 is much anticipated to be even better.
