Fishing Reports

Freshwater, Go Anywhere, January 2017

26th - 29th January 2017
by John Costa

With great weather predicted members headed to Lake Nillahcootie, Lake Mulwala and the Murray river at Yarrawonga and the Broken river at Benalla.

Tony Dorner fished lake Nillahcootie for no result with the incessant heat being close to unbearable.

The heat of the day also played havoc with Peter, Daniel and John at the Broken river. All their fishing activities were confined to an early fish in the morning and a fish later in the afternoon when the heat of the day was gone. Daniel landed a Murray cod that was 64cm in length, and a yellowbelly that was 38cm in length.  Peter had two Yellowbelly that were 31cm and 34cm respectively.

John Costa fished the Broken river at Benalla for two Murray cod that were 40cm and 42cm.  Both fish were taken on surface lures and released.

Kevin Bamford fished the Murray river at Yarrawonga for a 40cm Yellow belly.  The catch of Kevin’s weekend was a Murray cod of one meter in length landed by his friend's son on a black and white stump jumper.
