Nine members and two friends fished the Gippsland Lakes
Saturday, two members tried their luck at Lake Tyers picking up 2 Bream each with one landing a nice 40cm which finished up being the heaviest bream for the 2 day comp.
The rest spread out along the Mitchell River from the mouth of the silt jetties to picnic point with one member landing 9 Bream and 2 Mullet near the Cliffs. Another member landed an impressive 41cm, 1.13kg Estuary Perch around the picnic point area on his last cast and being his only fish for the day putting him in contention for the club record E/P and making the overall days total, 17 Bream, 3 Mullet and 1 Estuary Perch.
Sunday saw 34 Bream and 1 mullet weighed in. Two members managed to fill their bag and another with six, all caught in the Bairnsdale backwater whilst 4 fished the cliffs area landing 8 bream, 1 mullet. Others moved about the river with little success. Unfortunately, three competitors finished the weekend without a weigh in, otherwise it was a successful trip resulting with 51 Bream, 1 Estuary Perch and 3 Mullet for a total of 27.51kg. Sandworm and peeled prawns being the best baits.
