The day started at 7am at the Ballarat Yacht Club on the banks of lake Wendouree. The wind was howling and cold. Tony Dorner, Keven Bamford, George Kapoleous, myself and Nikki Duckstein shivered in the 30km winds that were churning the lake.
This was not boating weather with the forecast for strengthening winds from the NW as the day progressed. We abandoned the competition.
We moved to the western shore so we had the wind behind us and bank fished in the barely tolerable conditions for two hours to make our trip worthwhile. I was surprised by a fish that hit my soft plastic, rolled on the surface and then freed itself. Nikki threw soft plastics and hardbodies around for no results. George and Kevin fished Mudeyes and powerbait again for no results.
In summary, a disappointing day that was spoilt by high winds
