All members arrived at Port Albert in good time with new members George Kapouleas and Jeff Santamaria the last to arrive at approx. 9.30 pm on Friday. The new split system heater kept us nice and cozy whilst we all enjoyed a few sherbets. Most of the boys went to bed before midnight to rest for the Saturday workload.
Peter Goldsworthy continued on from Friday afternoon's foray to finish wiping down the toilet, washroom and foyer walls. It was strange to see the real colour of the ceilings and walls after all these years. Great work Pete.
Kevin Bamford cleaned all the sills, windows, and frames internally and externally. With these done after 5 hours of toil, Kevin took it upon himself to clean down the weatherboards of the lodge. The man is a machine. Thank you for the effort you put in. Peter and Kevin also replaced all the old blinds with the new ones.
Jeff Santamaria, George Kapouleas, Dennis Dowling, John Taylor, and Jason King's main job for the day was to dig out the drain beside the church and also clean out the table drain in front of the church. The boys toiled hard and the result was instantaneous. The drain in Raglan Street started doing its job and the worst of the flooding on the block started to disappear. Outstanding work guys.
John Owen our resident gadget man took it upon himself to refurbish the fish cleaning table. Bobby Beeson provided the cutting boards and Johnny Owen the labour. Please take the time to look at the photos to look at John's handiwork. This man crams so many tools into his car it is unbelievable, any tool required John had it. Thank you for your work.
Joe Perri our resident fitter, manufactured a stainless framed, door for our BBQ. The new improved model replaced the old door that had rotted after many years of service. Joe toiled all day for a great result. Please check out Joe's work on the website photos. Thank you for your efforts Joe.
Frank Calleja and Rod King set up some extra power points to make fridges and external power more accessible to all. Thank you for your ingenuit, and persistence to find a way to supply power to the areas that required it. Frank and Rod also showed their versatility, trimming off the air conditioner.
Dennis, John T, and Jason also cleaned out the bait freezer. Peter G was the working bee's everywhere man helping out on all projects, if someone needed help with something Pete was obliging and helped everybody.
Thanks to Dennis for helping me get dinner ready on Saturday night. We started with chicken spare ribs for entree, followed by roast vegies and steak. Apple pie and apple crumble with ice cream were dished up for sweets. Group jobs that all members took part in were, the extension of the concrete footing for the split system, the new drain at the back of the block to drain the area around the garage, and spring cleaning the lodge.
Also many thanks to Rod and Jason King for organizing the loan of a fireplace and wood for the Saturday night. It was great to sit under the stars in front of a fire enjoying a few beers. I would like to thank the following members that took part in this working bee. Joe Perri, Frank Calleja, Rod King, Dennis Dowling, John Taylor, Jason King, Peter Goldsworthy, Jeff Santamaria, George Kapouleas, John Owen, and JC. John Costa.
