Fifteen members entered the competition and fished in many different localities. The Murray at Yarrawonga, Lake Nillahcootie, The Ovens River, Malmsbury Reservoir, Lauriston Reservoir and the Yarra were all tried. Some fantastic fish were caught including Murray Cod, Yellowbelly and Redfin.
Kevin Bamford caught the Cod at 4.40am at Lake Nillahcootie after an all night fishing session with Ken Ely. A 54cm Cod was caught and released at 12.20am. Small yellowbelly and carp added to the fun.
Andrew Brandi and Richard Higlett were also successful in Nillahcootie with Cod and Yellowbelly. Andrew landed two Cod (59 &55cm) and a yellowbelly (42cm) on Lures and Richard two yellowbelly. Richard also caught a yellowbelly in the Murray at Yarrawonga.
A few members fished the Yarra but only troubled the little fish.
Neil Deveson and his two sons Michael and Andrew fished lures in the Ovens with Michael being successful with a lovely Murray Cod.
Tony Dorner fished the Malmsbury and Laureston Reservoirs and finished with a great bag of redfin with the average cleaned weight just over a kilogram.
A total of 4 Murray Cod, 4 yellowbelly and 4 Redfin were registered. The fish bought to scale and weighed a total of 10.23kg with the best bag being Tony Dorner with 4 Redfin weighing 4.175kgs cleaned weight. Second was Kevin Bamford with his first ever Murray cod weighing 3.49kgs and third was Richard Higlett with 3 yellowbelly for 2.565 with the best being 1.12kg.
The fishing conditions were very good in all locations.
