Fourteen members headed down for a weekend of fishing on the Bellarine Peninsula. The weather forecast didn't disappoint with warm sunny days and low wind all weekend. On Saturday most members fished around St Leonards and Clifton Springs targeting whiting with the odd flathead showing up in the mix. The boat ramps were pumping with plenty of people enjoying Australia's favourite past time. Steve and John took the 'Battleship' outside the heads and landed some nice flathead. With news of Joe Perri's awesome Snapper of 6.77kg some members thought they'd try Clifton springs in the afternoon. Although no more Snapper were caught, Niki managed a nice gummy shark weighing 4.10kg cleaned. Leo caught a healthy whiting of 40cm that went 0.46kg. After a late weight-in everybody refuelled ready for Sunday.
Sunday saw most members head back to similar areas. It was a quieter day for fishing but still some good sized whiting and flathead. Kevin and Leo kindly passed on some of their spots and knowledge to the Miller family. Although not part of the competition a lot of members picked up some nice Calamari. All in all a great competition with 79 fish caught in total with members keen to put the fish on the dinner plate! Winner of the Competition was Joe Perri, followed by Niki Duckstein and John Deveson. Special mention must go to Joe Perri for opening up his place to club members.
