Eighteen members attended the Squid Only Bellarine Trip over the weekend of the 16th & 17th of September with most members arriving on Friday.
The forecast wasn't looking good on Saturday with 30knots plus expected. And that's exactly what we got! Those who decided to bare the weather mostly headed out from Clifton Springs. Only 7 squid weighted in so it's fair to say most members were looking forward to just enjoying the BBQ! Myself, Kevin and George provided the tasty feast for members. Attilio provide some homemade wine which put 'Pedro's drop' to shame!
Sunday saw members up bright and early with less than 10 knots and a beautiful spring day ahead. Given the wind direction, most chose St Leonard's to launch from. High tide was best for catch rates and the results showed with 57 squid weighted in. John Deveson ended up winning the comp with 8 squid at 2.43kg (and biggest squid of 0.77kg) followed by myself and Frank in 3rd. Special mention to Attilio who was able to catch a ripper flathead on a white squid jig!
