Essendon Angling Club Maribyrong Masters – 4th March 2018
Preston Northcote were well represented at the 11th Maribyrnong Masters competition with 11 members and a junior. Fishing was difficult with the fish generally refusing to cooperate with only 3 bream and 2 snapper being brought to scale. Preston Northcote caught the biggest fish, a snapper by Joe Perri weighing 0.773kg and the biggest Bream by Niki Duckstein weighing 0.396kg.
Unfortunately for our Club the competition was for Bream only and as such the Club was beaten on average weight by Essendon Angling Club, however we cleaned up on various trophies winning the heaviest bream, heaviest bag of Bream, heaviest other species, the heaviest bag other species and the heaviest Bream for a female angler. These trophies were shared between Niki and Joe. Stan Petkovic weighed a 0.532kg snapper but missed out on the prizes.
The club members were also very successful in the raffle winning prizes as follows:
Attilo DiCori “First prize” - Eski
J Deveson - fishing rod
J Perri - fishing rod
G Kapouleous - chair
J Deveson - whipper snipper
Niki Duckstein - Daiwa shirt
Stan Petkovic - hat
Jaydon Mynott – hat
For the Club Competition Joe Perri was the winner followed by Stan Petkovic and Niki Duckstein. Best baits included prawn and chicken with a CRC spray.
Many thanks to Essendon Angling Club and in particularly Martin Corkhill for all their hard work in the organization of the event.
