Not a great day at the office for the 17 members that contested the Essendon Maribrynong Masters bream competition. Only 4 fish were weighed for our club from a total of 32 fish brought to scale from nearly 100 competitors. The fishing was not great with decent fish hard to come by in very good conditions.
The Club did not return home devoid of prizes however with Jason Tanti and Sam Ogden taking the first and second junior prizes. Also success was had in the monster raffle with 9 prizes being won. Jason Tanti won a depth sounder and John Deveson won a very high quality rod and reel combo. Jason now needs a boat to attach to the sounder.
The club competition resulted in a win to Ken Ely with a bream weighing 0.534kgs. Jason and Sam were the placegetters. The successful baits were chicken, prawn and live crab.
Footscray Angling Club won the shield again with 8 bream for 7 members for an average of 0.486kgs per angler. The police Angling Club was second with an average of 0.436kgs per member.
Congratulations to Essendon for great organising of the event and thanks to all the sponsors who contributed the magnificent prizes for the competition and raffle.
