We had 10 of our members head up for a camping/fishing trip at Majors Creek just south of Nagambie. An easy 1 hour 20 minutes from Preston, most members arrived on Friday to set up camp with some river front spots for a lucky few.
Saturday saw members head to the Goulburn River, a short 10 minute boat ride up Majors Creek. Kevin & Nick got onto a hot bite, each landing a nice yellowbelly and a tasty 34cm redfin for Kevin. Ivan the yella King went land base trekking and his hard work paid off with 2 x Yellowbellys weighted in. Daniel put his sidekick Steve onto a lovely 57cm cod which ended up as the biggest fish of the competition. Plenty of other undersized fish caught and released. Niki went for an afternoon session with Bamford Charters where they eventually found a new spot which fired on slow rolled scrub worm. They caught a mix of species including a 50cm Cod, 42cm Golden Perch and a 32cm Redfin. Members enjoyed an evening BBQ by the riverfront and even had a mascot, Ralph, the neighbours dog.
Sunday was much quieter fishing wise which we’ll blame on the weather change. Nick managed 2 cod, just undersized. Most missed a few good bites.
All in all, a great close spot with plenty of camping available. Majors Creek, we’ll be back!
