Newlyn Reservoir and Hepburn Lagoon 11th December 2016
A beautiful day was forecast for a spot of angling at Newlyn Reservoir and Hepburn Lagoon. Hopes where high for the five anglers with both lakes full to the brim and the likelihood of some good angling. Three members started at Newlyn and the other two went to Hepburn.
Weed and slime were a bit of concern at Newlyn and the fish were not that cooperative. Oliver Manasiev was a bit unlucky early with a nice trout on the bank early but unfortunately a combination of a steep bank and no net led to the fish escaping to live for another day. A Tassie devil was the successful lure. Lots of follows were the order of the day on a variety of lures, but no hook ups. Smaller trout were very active surface feeding all day.
Fishing was a little better at Hepburn with Daniel Trafford landing two rainbows on power bait. The best fish was 0.74kgs cleaned. He had to impress his girlfriend who was there to checkout his style? Well done Daniel.
