Ladies and gents we had a good trip down to Port with a total of 6 members and a couple of non-members heading down to South Gippsland to what was to be a beautiful weekend for fishing.
On the Saturday we woke to what was a perfect day for Port Albert absolutely no wind. The Costa’s and Daniel Trafford headed down to Mann’s Beach to try and get their hands on some of the big gummy’s that have been caught of late and to try their luck at a toothy or two.
Daniel had some success with a nice gummy, while John and Julian had to be happy with a feed of flatty’s. John and Josh Wuss came out for a fish and Josh got a nice hammer head shark and they also got some nice flatty’s between them.
I started the day out the front of Carnies entrance in for a few hours with not much luck then we got a call from Daniel and he told us he had a nice Gummy and there were bait fish everywhere down at Mann’s Beach so that the way we went. After saying hello to the people in three different boats we anchored up and set about having a crack I put on a nice chunk of eel and a mate Barry placed a whole squid on to try for that big gummy. It did not take long and we had 2 big gummy’s in the boat.
Brian and Bruce had a good day going for a feed inside and ended up with some good flathead and some whiting each.
On the Sunday it was back down to Mann’s not as much luck but we got flathead, while Daniel and Julian took out Josh and they had a good day going for a feed inside on the whiting, as did Brian and Bruce.
The only two to venture out on the Monday, as it was go home day for most, was Daniel and Brian and once again they got flathead and whiting.
All in all it was a good weekend with around 80 fish caught and the member’s having a great time at one of the club's lodges.
