Portland is a magnificent location to target tuna and other fish in various size boats. However, the weather was foul and the fish difficult to entice.
3 members made a week of the trip and fished offshore for the first 3 days for no results! Then the weather turned with rain and wind and more wind and rain.
The other members fished the harbour and closer inshore for some barracoota, yellowtail scad and a few squid and 1 pike, lots of baby snapper stealing bait.
On Sunday the sea conditions were tolerable and K Bamford and G Kapoleas took up the option of a tuna charter and landed around 35kg of tuna!
Good company and great location but very hard fishing.
