Five members took advantage of some lovely weather to get out and try their hand at catching a feed of snapper. Reports from the week had the fish working the Williamstown area of Port Phillip and the Corinella area of Westernport.
Southerlies were the order of the day averaging 10 to 15 knots.
Richard Higlett and Frank Calleja both managed good fish from Port Phillip.
Richard caught a lovely snapper of 5.72 kg on a squid head that he saved from the previous weeks fishing.
Frank's fish was just a little smaller weighing 5.66 kg. Frank also used squid as bait.
Gavin White fished the Freeman point area of Westernport forthree lovely snapper that graced the scales at 13.52 kg. Gavin's fish were taken on fresh salmon fillets.
Heaviest fish for the competition was taken by Richard Higlett at 5.72 kg.
All members were on the water way before sunrise, so were pretty eager to get back home after the weigh in. Great start to the snapper season guys.
