Fishing Reports

St Kilda Snapper, September 2016

24th SeptemberSeptember 2016
by Tony Nicolosi

A total of 10 members fished the St Kilda competition on Saturday 24th September 2016 with a total of 5 boats. Tony Nicolosi, Ron DeBono, Frank Calleja, Richard Higlett, Tileo DiCori Peter Antonello, Steve Gusman Bob Beeson, Kevin Bamford and Gordon McDonald. All members were present and on time at 5:30am to chase a early run of Red Snapper and other species.

Weather conditions, although starting out to be reasonable in the early hours, did manage to be become a little lumpy with a 15knot North/Easterly by about 10am which did make fishing difficult at times with boats and lines going everywhere. At about 10:30am, and with the increasing wind, the team captain and referee made the call to all competitors, and for the safety of the smaller boats, to shorten the trip from 2.00pm to 12pm. All Competitors agreed and by the time we got back to the ramp most boats were already in.

At the weigh-in there were 2 x Flathead weight in by Tileo DiCori for the total weight of 900grm the heaviest fish was .670grm @ 46cm. The trip was a success and enjoyed buy all that attended.
