Howqua Association Interclub trip 1st -2nd September 2018

1st - 2nd September 2018
by John Deveson

Howqua Association Interclub trip 1-2/09/2018

Most members arrived Friday and settled into the lodge and it rained most of the day which provided some adventures in managing car and boat parking in slippery conditions.

Saturday the rain almost cleared with calm winds.  Tony Dorners had a few issues with bogged vehicle and driver’s door and delayed some people.  The lake was looking good for those members who headed out as most members trawled Tassie devil or sting lures from the Howqua River arm to the Goulburn River arm. 16 fish were weighed in on Saturday night for PNAC and 12 trout weighed in for the Howqua Association interclub comp representing 14 anglers from PNAC at 7.4 kg.  5 members fished the river and Petras Surna released a nice trout in our measured fish competition and Geoff Aylward non- member landed 3 nice trout.

The PNAC were leading after weigh in on an average around 5.kg and our nearest competing club was Dunlop Bayswater on an average just over 2.0kg.

Once again the meal provided by the Howqua Association was excellent on Saturday night as all 5 clubs came to eat and enjoyed each other’s company.  The Raffle was mainly won from the other clubs and PNAC were out of luck in the draw.

Prior to Saturday night's meal the Howqua Association had there AGM meeting with all clubs and some position outcomes were discussed. This tip will now be moved a week later so members can enjoy Father’s Day with their families.

Sunday morning was clear skies and a zero degrees start for those who ventured out as most members fished the lake and a couple fished the river.  Although the weather had clear blues skies it did not turn the fish on and we only had 1 fish weighed in on the river.
